Bikaner: An accused accountant of PBM Hospital, Bikaner, who was arrested on Friday for taking bribe was sent to judicial custody on Saturday. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had presented him in the court.
ACB SP Mamta Rahul said that during search operations at the residence of Virendra Pandey, the team seized documents pertaining to two plots and one house.
Besides this, some old jewellery was also recovered which is said to have been given to Pandey at the time of his marriage. SP Rahul said that ACB will conduct search, if needed, after quizzing the accused.
Virendra Pandey was serving as an accountant in PBM Hospital, Bikaner. He was arrested by ACB team on Friday when he was taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 from an employee of an NGO, responsible for providing ambulance facility to mothers and infants for dropping them at their houses after they were discharged from the hospital. It is being done under the welfare scheme of government of Rajasthan titled 'Janani Suraksha Yojana'. When the NGO employee Pramod Singh submitted bills for payment towards ambulance, accountant Pandey demanded bribe. Pandey demanded Rs 20,000 against the payment cleared earlier, and Rs 13,000 against the recently submitted bills.
Pramod Singh lodged a complaint with the ACB, which in turn laid a trap to nab the accused after verifying the complaint. A team was constituted under ASP Parbat Singh. According to the plan, complainant Pramod Singh went to Pandey's office where the accountant asked him to put the money in his bag. After the office hours, when Pandey left for his house, the team nabbed him recovered Rs 30,000 from him. The team arrested Pandey and began search operations in his office.
